Photo Pictorialists of Milwaukee is one of the oldest photography clubs in the Midwest. It was founded in 1904 and became a charter member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) in 1934. In the early 1900s, PPM members used tripods and view cameras with glass plate negatives. Their black-and-white prints were exhibited in juried salons, some with international participation.

Today’s club has members of all skill levels, from amateurs to experienced professionals, with many photographic interests and personal shooting styles. Members drive from six counties to the monthly meetings at Waukesha State Bank in Menomonee Falls.

After meeting continuously for over a century, the club suspended in-person meetings during the pandemic. However, members enjoyed staying in touch and seeing each other’s images in .pdfs that were emailed to them.

In October of 2022, the club began meeting again in person. Members participate in outside photo exhibits and competitions, while the club itself hosts invited speakers, member presentations, photo outings, gatherings, and an annual club Photo Challenge. These activities are not only educational but promote camaraderie and fellowship. Their newly revamped website allows members to display their images and present an updated view of the club.
